TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II, WEEK 3, 20.11.2017 to 24.11.2017, MONDAY TO FRIDAY

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE : The teacher trainees took classes according to the timetable on all the five working days and peer evaluation was also conducted this week.  Assembly was not conducted this week as the students and teachers were busy preparing for the school kalolsvam programs after the unit tests.  We were instructed by the teachers to maintain discipline in the third floor where the students were practising for various cultural programs.  The attendance of students were very less during the afternoon classes as they were given permission by the Headmaster and class teachers to practice for kalolsavam.  But still we were instructed by the teachers to take classes.  It was not at all satisfactory as most of the students were not in the class.The topic respiratory organs of various organisms was evaluated in Akhila's Class. On 24-11-2017 Thrishna's Class was evaluated in class 9 on the topic, The Jungle Air Crash.
CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
Classes were taken for class VIII and IX students this week on all the 4 days according to timetable.  Two topics, The growth of taxonomy and Contribution of Scientists in the field of classification were taken for class VIII students according to the lesson plan. The topics,  Structure of nephron,  Steps in formation of urine and Role of kidneys in maintaining homeostasis. 
OVER ALL REFLECTION ON CLASS ROOM EXPERIENCE :
Five topics were taught to the students this week.

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II: WEEK 2,13.11.2017 to 17.11.2017,MONDAY TO FRIDAY

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE         
          The second week of teaching practice began on 13.11.2017,Monday.  Assembly was not conducted this week as unit tests were being conducted this week.  The duration of exam was 1hour that is from 11 to 12 after the third period.  There fore the teacher trainees could not take classes during 3rd and 4th periods. Classes were taken after lunch break without fail. Peer evaluation of Akhil Lal B S was conducted on 13-11-2017. The topic food chain was also evaluated on 16-11-2017.
CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
              Three topics were taught to class IX students and only one topic could be taught to class VIII students.  Among them, the class IX students were given an ICT class on 17.11.2017. The topics taken for class IX were from the unit,  To maintain homeostasis i.e, Formation of urea, External structure of kidney and Internal structure of kidney.  The students of class VIII were taught only a single topic that is Significance of taxonomic keys on 16.11.2017.
               The teaching aids used for teaching taxonomic keys was chart showing the different types of organisms based on criteria used for the classification of organisms and details of classification of animals.  The formation of urea was taught using two charts, one showing the steps involved in the formation of ammonia and another one showing the equation of urea formation from ammonia.  The external structure of kidney was taught using chart showing the labelled diagram of structure of kidneys and associated parts and a table showing the position and size of kidney and the function of renal artery and renal vein.  The internal structure of kidney was taken in ICR room using a video showing the cross section of internal structure of kidney. 
OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE :  Four lesson plans were completed this week.
Seven charts and one video were used for teaching the students this week.  One ICR class was taken for effective transaction of the content

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II; WEEK 1,DAY: WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY, DATE: 8.11.2017 TO 10.11.2017

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE: As a part of the B.Ed curriculum, our second phase of teaching practise of 50days started on 8.11.2017, Wednesday. Eight teacher trainees alloted to Sabarigiri Higher Secondary School were NATURAL SCIENCE: 1.Akhila Lal B.S 2. Neena Gopakumar ENGLISH 1. Arathy L.R 2. Sutharya Sugathan 3. Thrishna Akhil SOCIAL SCIENCE: 1. Rahulkumar 2. Seenamol V. P MATHEMATICS 1. Laya.                  We reached the school on the first day at 8.30a.m like the first phase. Headmaster of the school Sri.Shamsudeen Sir was on leave on the first day. But when we went to meet him to hand over the permission letter for teaching practice, he had instructed us to reach the school in time and collect timetable from the respective teachers. He mentioned that a slight change was made in our staffroom. It was shifted to the second floor. He told that he will meet us when he is back. As instructed, we reached the school on time and went to our new staffroom. There was a change in timetable and therefore we collected the same from our subject teachers. Assembly was not conducted this week. Practice for sub jilla kalolsavam was being conducted in the school during the afternoon session in second floor. The school had participants for group items such as Oppana, Group dance , Group song and for single items such as Monoact, Light music. Substitution classes were given mostly in L.P and U.P classes. The Xth standard was divided into two divisions A and B. Classrooms were changed as a disciplinary action by the Head master. School dispersed in the evening at 3.30 pm after prayer and national anthem.
   CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:           According to the new timetable, I had two classes in standard VIII and 3classes in std IX every week. I didnot have class on the first day of teaching practice that is , Wednesday. But I went for substitution to class IV.A which was next to our staffroom in the fourth period. I gave them dictation in Malayalam. During the afternoon session, I went to Sulabha Madam's class so that I can learn how she makes the Xth standard students attendive in her class.                          Class was taken on the first topic, Criterias for classification from my teaching manual record for class VIII students on Thursday from the unit, Why Classification using activity method. On Friday, different excretory organs were taught to the students of class IX using concept attainment model from the unit To maintain homeostasis. No extra curricular activities other than the practice for kalolsavam were conducted in the school this week.  Daily diary and reflective journal were completed accordingly.

               OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE:  Students of VIIIth standard and IXth standard were given lesson plan oriented activity based and concept attainment model based classroom experiences. One lesson plan of standard VIII and one lesson plan of standard IX were completed effectively. One chart and cutouts showing different organisms and cutout showing the dialogue shown in the textbook was prepared for class VIII and chart showing positive and negative examples and unlabelles examples were used in class IX. Students were given followup activities like write down a description on the criterias used for classification and to construct a table showing the list of excretory organs in man and their excretory products.
