TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 6: 24.7.2017-28.7.2017

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE: 

 Assembly was conducted on Monday Wednesday and Friday this week. Photos of the colorful house wise assembly was taken from the first floor. Diagnostic test was conducted for students of Standard 8 this week from the first unit, Life's mysteries in little chambers. A class test was given to class 9 in Class 9 students were taught two topics this week in my period. I got substitution classes in 5th 6th and 9th this week.Peer evaluation of Laya's class was done on 26.7.2017 in std VIII. Her topic was ' Numbers in a calendar'. Charts and activity cards containing the detailed notes and questions on calendar math were used. Overall effectiveness of teaching was good. Peer evaluation was done in class VI taken by Arathy.L.R. She took the topic " One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world" from the unit ' Still we rise'. Charts and activity cards were used effectively. Overall effectiveness of teaching was satisfactory according to the criteria observed.


REFLECTION ON CLASS EXPERIENCE: 

Students of 9th was taught the topic Different types of teeth and their functions using chart. Class test was given to students of class 9 on Tuesday during the substitution period. The topic plant tissues was taught to 8th Standard students on Wednesday using charts showing structure and function of plant tissues. I got substitution class in 6th Standard on Friday and students were asked to write a short story using minimum words. Reflective journal and daily diary of this week was also completed during this week


OVERALL CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE: 

Students of standard 8 and 9 were given lesson plan and activity oriented classes on Monday Wednesday and Thursday in the respective classes according to the time table provided. 2 lesson plans were completed in both the classes. Students were given follow up activities like drawing the structure and function of different types of teeth, to prepare a picture album showing the different types of teeth in herbivores and carnivores, to prepare cutouts of plant tissues, to draw pictures of plant tissues in the science diary.

TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 5: 17.7.2017-21.7.2017

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE:

In this week no extra curricular activities were conducted in the School and therefore we , the teacher trainees got all the teaching periods. School assembly was conducted on 3 days during this week i.e, on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Students of Standard 9 conducted the assembly on Monday, Plus 1 on Wednesday and Standard 10 on Friday. I had two regular classes in Standard 8 and Standard 9 each during this week. 

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

Students of Standard 8 was taught the topic Animal tissues on Thursday. ICT class was provided to teach the topic Stem cells and significance of stem cell research for class 8th. 9th standard was taught the topic Human Digestive system using activity method. Flowchart of digestive system was completed by the students after the two activities. Students actively participated in all the activities given. Teaching aids such as videos and charts were used appropriately to make the topic interesting and understanding. Reflective journal and daily diary were completed this week.

 OVERALL CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE:

The students of class 8 and 9 were taught two topics each during this week using teaching aids such as charts and video. 5 charts and 2 videos were used to teach in both the classes. Follow up activities given to the students were to prepare a manuscript magazine on the significance of stem cells, to prepare a chart containing the structure and function of animal tissues, to draw a picture of plant tissues in the science diary, to prepare a model of human digestive system and to write a note on the various parts of human digestive system.

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE:

TEACHING PHASE WEEK 3: 3.7.2017 - 7.7.2017

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE: 

The students of Sabarigiri H.S.S , Anchal had unit tests during this week from Monday to Thursday. Half the time of 3rd period and 4th period was the time for the time allotted for test paper in morning session and half the time of 7th period and 8th period was allotted for afternoon test session. Most of us couldn't teach due to this time schedule as our classes were during the test periods. My students were having biology exam on Wednesday. Questions were asked from 1st unit only. I could teach 8th standard students and 9th standard students on Wednesday and Thursday. Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes and Plastids were taught to 8th standard students on Wednesday and in 9th standard ocean as an ecosystem and causes and effects of pollution on photosynthesis. On 7th, 9th standard students took seminar on global warming. Peer evaluation of Akhila Lal B.S was done in class VI. She took the topic uni sexual and bisexual flowers from the unit from flower to flower. Overall effectiveness of teaching was good according to the criteria observed.


CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

 ICT class was provided for 9th standard students during this week to teach ocean ecosystem and ocean pollution.Seminar was conducted by 9th standard students on the topic Global warming. Causes , effects and preventive measures were noted down by the students. Additional points were also provided. Students actively participated in ICT classroom and Seminar classes. Peer evaluation of Akhila's class was done on 4.7.2017 in VIth standard. She took the topic 'Parts of a flower'. Overall effectiveness of teaching was satisfactory according to the criterias observed. 

 OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE:

ICT based and activity oriented classroom experience was given to 9th standard and 8th standard students respectively. 3 Charts and 2 videos were used to make the topic easily understandable to the students.

TEACHING PHASE WEEK 2: 26.6.2017-30.6.2017

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE:

 This week we got only 3 working days as there was a declared public holiday on Monday in association with Eid and Wednesday was declared a holiday by District Collector, Kollam due to heavy rainfall. Sulabha madam had instructed me to complete structure and function of cell organelles from 1st unit for 8th standard and storage forms of glucose for 9th standard. Prior to their first monthly test , I planned to complete two lesson plans a day in both the classes. I could complete peer evaluation of other optional subjects in this week. Among the classes I observed Seena's was the best.

 CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

This week, students of 8th standard were taught the following topics using activity method. Structure of animal and plant cells and function of cell organelles. 9th standard students were taught chemistry of photosynthesis, light and dark reaction, chemical changes of glucose in plants and different storage forms of glucose. Teaching aids such as charts showing the structure of plant and animal cells , structure of cell organelles and their function, chemical reactions in photosynthesis, chemical changes of glucose in plants were used based on the teaching manual. Daily diary and reflective journals were also done this week.

OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE:

Students of 8th and 9th standards were taught 2 lesson plans each using charts and activity method. 2 charts were prepared to teach in 9th standard and 4 charts were prepared for 8th standard students.
